MLJ, SASU publishes RemembranceDesk and is the controller of the personal data described below. You can reach the publication director, Jimenez Julien, at jimenezjulien42@gmail.com for any question about this policy or any request concerning your data. This document is written for the funeral directors, owners and office managers who contact us through this site. Personal data held inside the RemembranceDesk application on behalf of a subscribing funeral home is governed instead by the data processing terms in our terms of service, where the firm is the controller and we act as processor.
What this website collects
This website has one form, the request form in the contact section of the home page. When you send it, we receive exactly the fields listed here and nothing else:
- name: your full name, so a reply is addressed to a person.
- email: the work email address we answer.
- company: the name of your funeral home.
- role: your role at the firm, chosen from a fixed list such as owner, licensed funeral director, general manager, office manager, preneed counselor or family services coordinator.
- request: what you are asking for, such as a demo, a quote, access for another chapel or a move from a current provider.
- size: the size of the firm, expressed in chapels and annual case volume.
- message: your free text description of how you publish obituaries today.
- consent: the record that you ticked the consent box before sending.
- form-name, subject and recipient: hidden routing fields that tell the form service which form was sent and where to deliver it.
- bot-field: an anti spam field that stays empty for human visitors.
The form service also records the date and time of the submission and the IP address the request came from, which is standard spam protection. We do not ask for a phone number, a postal address, payment details, or any information about the families your firm serves. Please do not include decedent names, case numbers or family contact details in the message field: if you do, we delete that part of the submission when we reply.
Why we hold it, and on what legal basis
We use your submission for one purpose: to answer you and, if you ask for it, to arrange and run a demonstration of RemembranceDesk. We do not build a marketing list from these submissions, we do not send newsletters, and we never sell, rent or share the details with a third party for their own purposes. Where the General Data Protection Regulation applies, the legal basis is your consent, given by ticking the consent box, together with our legitimate interest in responding to a business enquiry that you initiated. Under United States state privacy laws, this is a business to business communication that you requested, and we do not sell personal information or share it for cross context behavioral advertising.
How long it is kept
Submissions are kept for 24 months from the date you send them, so that we can find the thread if you come back to us a year later. After that they are deleted from the form service and from the mailbox that received them. If you become a customer, the correspondence is kept for the life of the account and for the retention period stated in the terms of service. You can ask for deletion at any time before those periods end, and we act on it within 30 days.
Who processes it
The site is hosted by Netlify, Inc., 512 2nd Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States. Form submissions are processed and stored by Netlify Forms and are then delivered to the publisher's email inbox. Netlify acts as our processor for that hosting and form handling, under its own security commitments. Server access logs generated by hosting are held by Netlify for a short technical period and are used for security and troubleshooting only. No other company receives the contents of your submission.
Cookies and tracking
This website sets no advertising cookies, no third party analytics cookies and no cross site tracking pixels. There is no Google Analytics tag, no advertising network tag, no session recording and no fingerprinting script. The only third party request the page makes is to Google Fonts, which serves the Cardo and Lato typefaces used in the design; that request exposes your IP address to Google as any web request does, and it sets no cookie. Because we set no non essential cookies, no consent banner is required and none is shown.
International transfers
The publisher is established in France and the hosting and form processing take place in the United States. Where personal data of a person in the European Economic Area is transferred to the United States, the transfer relies on the European Commission standard contractual clauses incorporated into the Netlify data processing agreement, together with the supplementary measures described there. If you would like a copy of the relevant clauses, write to the address below and we will send it.
Your rights
If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah or Virginia, you have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to obtain a copy of it, to have it corrected, and to have it deleted. You may also confirm that we do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising, because we do not. California residents may additionally ask about disclosures for a business purpose and are protected from any discrimination for exercising these rights. Residents of other states are given the same treatment as a matter of policy, and you may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.
If the General Data Protection Regulation applies to you, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection to processing, and portability, together with the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal. You may also lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority, which in France is the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertes.
To exercise any of these rights, write to jimenezjulien42@gmail.com with the email address you used on the form. We reply within 30 days. We may ask one clarifying question to confirm the request comes from you, and we do not charge a fee unless a request is manifestly excessive or repetitive.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, security headers are set on every response, and the mailbox that receives submissions is protected by two factor authentication. Access to submissions is limited to the publication director. If a data breach ever affects information collected through this site, we notify affected people and the competent authority within the deadlines set by the applicable law.
Children's privacy
RemembranceDesk is professional software sold to funeral businesses, and this website is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 years of age. If you believe a child has sent us information through the form, write to the address above and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version appears on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes affecting people who have already written to us are also announced by email where we have an address on file. This version is dated March 2, 2026.
