Resources for independent funeral homes

Free tools and working documents for family owned firms, covering obituary production, newspaper notice costs, and how the publishing options compare.

Everything on this page is free and none of it requires an account. It exists because the work of a small funeral home is mostly detail under time pressure, and the useful resources for that work are scattered across trade association handbooks, state board bulletins, and half remembered conversations at a convention.

You will find two calculators that put numbers on the paid newspaper notice and on obituary production hours, a printable intake and publication checklist for the arrangement room, and honest comparisons of RemembranceDesk against the other ways a firm can publish obituary and service pages. The Arrangement Room, our magazine, carries the longer reporting on the paperwork and the economics behind all of it.

About

Who writes all of this

The author page covers who writes The Arrangement Room, the years spent around first calls and arrangement conferences, and why this desk was built for independent funeral homes rather than for chains.

The calculators, the intake checklist, and the comparison pages stay open with no account, because a small firm should not have to trade an email address for a worksheet. If you want to see what happens after the checklist is worked through, ask for a demo and we will publish a sample obituary and service page carrying your firm name so you can judge the finished page rather than the promise.
